THE BEGINNING
First entry, keeping it short and real for anyone wondering. No crazy story here. I grew up in the SF Bay Area, surfing with my buddies since I was 13, always hooked on the ocean. After college in Santa Barbara, I landed in Venice in my 20s, feeling this urge to start a brand—something bold, maybe a bit out there. Humor’s my deal; it hits and sticks. Naming the brand, though? Total pain. You try too hard, and it feels forced, like you’re drifting further from something that actually fits. So, I decided to relax and let the idea find me.
One chill afternoon, I was crashed on my couch, half-watching some movie—think it was Wedding Crashers, not sure. There’s a boat, and you know how sailors give them these goofy names like Knotty Lady? Someone says, “My boat’s My Big Fat Wet Dream,” and I cracked up. I was like, “Yo, that’s it—Wet Dreams Surf Club.” I’d been playing with ideas for a surf-inspired streetwear thing, and that silly line just clicked. Inspiration’s weird as hell—shows up whenever.
